One drawback I discovered later was that the cleaner material is a loose powder. This works well, unless you're clumsy like me and tip your rig over from time to time. Then you have a mess. The RS stuff was a solid mass you dipped the solder tip into so was almost non-spillable. I reordered another tin of tip cleaner. This time, I took the top off, set it in a disposable aluminum pie pan, and heated it to 240 F for 2 hours. To be honest, an hour might be long enough. I ran t5he exhaust fan but noticed no odors. When the tip cleaner cooled off, it was formed into a solid mass and isn't spillable. Here are three pics of the material after it comes out of the oven, how the tip is sunk into the tip cleaner to clean it as it melts around the tip, and finally the nice clean tip that results. But it doesn't spill in this format!
